Seafish is to host a free webinar to help UK seafood businesses explore export opportunities in two key Asian markets.

Taking place online on Thursday, February 12th from 9.30 - 10:45am, the webinar ‘Exporting Opportunities for UK Seafood to South Korea and Vietnam’ will provide insight for companies interested in exporting fish and shellfish to these countries.

The event, supported by the Department for Business and Trade and hosted by Seafish, the public body that supports the UK seafood industry, will cover the current economic landscape in both nations, an overview of their seafood sectors and trade insights into emerging export activity between the UK, Vietnam and South Korea.

Attendees will also receive guidance on regulatory and tariff frameworks alongside clear information on where opportunities exist for UK seafood businesses.

The webinar, designed for seafood businesses across the supply chain, will feature Seafish speakers Jennifer Robson, Head of Economics, Insight and Advice; Joe Cooper, Trade Analyst and Mathew Noakes, Regulatory Affairs Advisor.

Also scheduled to speak are Georgie Holmes, Agriculture, Food and Drink Attaché to Republic of Korea and Matthew Albon-Crouch, Agriculture, Food and Drink Attaché to Vietnam.

Andy Gray, Seafish Trade Engagement Manager, said: “Vietnam and South Korea present new and significant opportunities for UK seafood exporters, but understanding market conditions, trade dynamics and regulatory requirements is essential.

“This webinar will bring together the latest insight and other expertise to help businesses assess where the real opportunities lie and how best to approach these markets.”

The webinar will take place on Thursday, February 12th at 9.30am, is free to attend and open to all UK seafood companies and other interested individuals and parties.

About Seafish
Seafish is here to give the UK seafood sector the support it needs to thrive.

We’re a non-departmental public body (NDPB) set up by the Fisheries Act 1981. Our sponsors are the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish devolved administrations.

Using our unique, non-competitive position, we work in partnership with businesses, Government and organisations to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.

Funded by a levy on the first sale of seafood in the UK, our work makes a huge difference. It keeps fishermen safe, supports sustainable sourcing, helps businesses work efficiently, and boosts the nation’s health. We tackle everything from research to campaigns, insights to training – whatever we can do to give our industry the support it needs.
